We are excited to announce that effective September 1, 2024, Olsen Thielen has elected four new principals of the firm: Rob Mathewson, Tony Oman, Charlie Sparks, and Carrie Sundberg. Congratulations to all!
Rob Mathewson
Rob is a Principal in the Audit Department at our Roseville office and specializes in the Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Hospitality, and Not for Profit industries. He graduated from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA). Rob has been with Olsen Thielen since 2011.
In addition to conducting and supervising audits, reviews, and compilation engagements, Rob has significant experience in Employee Benefit Plan Audits, cash flow and financial ratio trend analysis, providing consulting services and training, preparing and reviewing multi-company consolidated financial statements, preparing budgets, financial, and cash flow projections, and preparing quarterly corporate tax estimates and provisions for complex consolidated groups of companies.
Rob and his wife have 3 boys and a yellow lab. They love spending time outdoors fishing and golfing, and his favorite vacation destination is with his family on camping trips to the North Shore. Rob is also an avid Minnesota Gophers fan.
Tony Oman
Tony is a Principal in our Business Valuation Services Department at the Roseville office. He is our Business Valuation leader and consults with clients on mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, and business valuation.
Tony’s background includes corporate finance in FP&A and enterprise pricing and significant experience both in private and other public accounting firms before joining Olsen Thielen in 2017. Tony has performed and reviewed hundreds of valuations of business enterprises, equity interests, debt instruments, and various assets and liabilities for mergers and acquisitions, corporate planning, tax planning and reporting, financial reporting, and litigation purposes. Tony has also testified as an expert witness on valuation matters in the Minnesota state court.
Tony graduated from Winona State University and received his MBA in Corporate Finance and Strategy from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He is also an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation (ASA-BV) with the American Society of Appraisers.
Outside of work, Tony can be found with his wife and two boys and enjoys going to Minnesota Twins games, Gopher Football, working out, and reading.
Charlie Sparks
Charlie is a Principal in the Tax Department of the Roseville office and has significant experience working with small business, partnerships, and individuals. He specializing in both C and S corporations, individual shareholder tax planning, compliance work for individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns, multi-state taxation issues, and year-end tax planning for businesses and individuals. Charlie specializes in working with businesses in the Manufacturing and Distribution, Professional Services, and Medical/Dental industries.
Charlie received his Master of Accounting degree from Minnesota State University at Mankato and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA). Charlie joined Olsen Thielen in 2019 as a Tax Manager after working at other public accounting firms, and has moved his way up quickly.
Charlie’s wife Ashley also works in public accounting and is a partner at a local firm. Together they have a young son, Chip and live locally here in Roseville, MN.
Carrie Sundberg
Carrie is a Principal in the Audit Department at the Roseville office and works with clients in the Not for Profit, Telecommunications, and Manufacturing industries. Carrie is an expert in Employee Benefit Plan Audits in addition to conducting and supervising audits, reviews, and compilation engagements, cash flow and financial ratio trend analysis, providing consulting services and training, and preparing and reviewing multi-company consolidated financial statements.
Carrie received her BA from Gustavus Adolphus College and her Master’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from Keller University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Minnesota Society of CPAs (MNCPA). Carrie has been with Olsen Thielen since 2014.
After originally starting out in a career in Advertising Sales, Carrie pivoted her career and got into public accounting with the firm in 2014. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
